With over 3.5 Million bags of coffee grown each year, Guatemala is one of the top ten producing coffee-growing regions in the world. The cultural center for this coffee growing region is the city of Antigua, the 16th century capital of Guatemala. In 1890, after traveling by horseback from his office in the capital, Guatemala City, Salvador Falla (pronounced fa-ya) purchased one of these magnificent coffee estates. Thus began the coffee-growing tradition of the Falla Family in the Antigua region. To this day, the Fallas produce some of the most prized Guatemalan coffee at Finca La Tacita. At over 7000 ft, the La Tacita farm or Beneficio, produces some of the highest-grown coffee in Central America, the finest from the renowned Antigua region.The Finca "Little Cup" of Tacita sits high upon the fertile slopes of the Acantenago Volcano, where the coffee is shade-grown in Grevillea regional travel tourism lodging and Macadamia nut forests.
